{"id":466416,"date":"2026-10-15T04:03:53","date_gmt":"2026-10-15T04:03:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/466416\/"},"modified":"2026-10-15T04:03:53","modified_gmt":"2026-10-15T04:03:53","slug":"suspected-jewelry-thief-fatally-shot-by-security-officer-at-fort-worth-shopping-center-police-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/466416\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspected jewelry thief fatally shot by security officer at Fort Worth shopping center, police say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A suspected smash-and-grab theft at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/texas\/tag\/fort-worth\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Fort Worth shopping center<\/a> turned deadly when an armed security officer shot a man who was breaking the glass at a jewelry kiosk, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Officers responded shortly after 8:30 p.m. to the 4200 block of South Freeway near Seminary Drive, where La Gran Plaza is located, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/texas\/tag\/fort-worth-police-department\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Fort Worth police<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The man was seen using an object to break the glass at a jewelry kiosk inside the shopping center, police spokesperson Buddy Calzada said.<\/p>\n<p>An armed security officer nearby opened fire, striking the man at least once, Calzada said.
