Canyon Ranch Austin is taking wellness to another level.<\/p>\n

For Houstonians who consider a spa weekend a worthy investment in their well-being, a new Hill Country destination is making the drive west more appealing. <\/a>Canyon Ranch Austin<\/a>, the newest location from one of the country\u2019s most sought-after wellness brands, is opening later this month in Spicewood, overlooking Lake Travis.<\/p>\n

Designed to complement its natural surroundings, the 141-room resort sits on more than 600 acres, with 1.5 miles of lakefront and over five miles of hiking and biking trails. Its headlining attraction is a 40,000-square-foot spa, reportedly the largest in Texas, but the property\u2019s most notable distinction may be its approach to women\u2019s health.<\/p>\n

The new Women\u2019s Wellness Collective, the first of its kind for Canyon Ranch, offers specialized care and programming for women, with an emphasis on menopause, hormonal health, sleep, postpartum recovery, and aging\u2014health concerns that have historically received less research and investment.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t fix it all, obviously. But we can prioritize it, as an organization, and find our way to creating a supportive set of practitioners and services that can support a woman\u2019s journey,\u201d says Canyon Ranch CEO Mark Rivers. While Canyon\u2019s other properties offer women\u2019s health experiences, Austin will have more concentrated, dedicated resources. \u201cIn Austin, women\u2019s health, happiness, aging, and beauty are a very real \u2018North Star\u2019 for us,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n

Canyon Ranch Austin will not only have the largest spa in Texas; it’ll also be the largest property for the wellness brand.<\/p>\n

The resort\u2019s fall calendar is already filling up with engaging sessions led by women\u2019s health specialists. Actress and best-selling author Sarah Shahi, sleep expert Dr. Wendy Troxel, and board-certified OB\/GYN Dr. Somi Javaid will lead Sex, Skin, and Sleep<\/a>, a three-day November retreat focused on libido, sensuality, pelvic-floor health, hot flashes, self-hypnosis, and beauty sleep. And in December, exercise physiologist and nutrition scientist Dr. Stacy Sims will host the sold-out weekend session, <\/a>Level Up: Women\u2019s Fitness, Health + Well-Being<\/a>, guiding participants through discussions, assessments, and screenings on strength training, mobility, nutrition, sleep, and recovery.<\/p>\n

Those looking for a classic spa getaway will still find plenty to fill their weekend itineraries. <\/a>The Spa<\/a>, the resort\u2019s centerpiece for relaxation and recovery, has 40 treatment rooms for body and skin services, plus indoor and outdoor amenities, a salon, and a retail boutique.<\/p>\n

Guests can indulge in traditional spa rituals enhanced by cutting-edge technology, including skin analysis using three-dimensional facial imaging, plus an <\/a>Austin-infused massage<\/a> using locally crafted oil, set to a Waterloo vinyl record. The spa also includes a cedar sauna with continuous aromatherapy, aromatic steam rooms, indoor and outdoor whirlpools, and cold-plunge facilities.<\/p>\n

Beyond the spa, the resort features The Barn, a 27,000-square-foot fitness complex with a gym, movement studios, a recovery lab, and an outdoor turf performance field. Visitors can also enjoy a covered lap pool, racquet sports, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, fishing, and an equestrian program, plus daily activities such as scheduled hikes, walks, yoga sessions, and pickleball and tennis clinics.<\/p>\n

Canyon Ranch Austin is another way to spend a weekend in Hill Country.<\/p>\n

And even though Canyon Ranch is built around wellness, not every meal has to taste like it. The resort offers four food-and-beverage options, including its signature restaurant, <\/a>Estella<\/a>. Culinary Director <\/a>Val M. Cantu<\/a>, the Central Texas chef behind San Francisco\u2019s three Michelin-starred <\/a>Californios<\/a>, brings a fresh perspective and ingredients to the menu, making it feel more like an experience than a prescription for healthy eating. On-site, the Flying X Cafe offers casual breakfast and lunch; the Mini Bar features cocktails and smaller lounge seating; and Oak Valley is an outdoor grove for special events and celebrations.<\/p>\n

The brand has spent nearly 50 years refining that kind of experience, and now it\u2019s bringing that philosophy home to Texas. Canyon Ranch opened its first property in Tucson, Arizona, in 1979, pioneering a model that brought fitness, nutrition, spa treatments, health expertise, and personal development under one roof\u2014a feat at a time when wellness travel wasn\u2019t as mainstream as it is today.<\/p>\n

\u200bRather than treating wellness as a single treatment or activity, Canyon Ranch built its reputation around an all-encompassing approach to the body, mind, and spirit. That philosophy has attracted travelers worldwide seeking a more purposeful getaway. The company expanded to Lenox, Massachusetts, and developed additional spa and wellness experiences, including at its Las Vegas and Fort Worth day spas. The result is a distinct Lone Star State vibe without the predictable ranch-house motifs. Known for its strong connection to the landscape through natural materials, architecture firm <\/a>Lake Flato<\/a> (behind Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston<\/a> and Hotel Saint Augustine Houston<\/a>) designed the resort and its adjacent residential community.<\/p>\n
