“By fostering, you give us those notes. We find out exactly how they’re going to be in their real world,” Steve explained.

Why fostering makes a lifesaving difference

Walter is currently living with a foster family, which helps Austin Pets Alive! learn more about his personality outside the shelter.

Austin Pets Alive! needs fosters for mama dogs and puppies

The organization is currently seeking foster families for pregnant and nursing mama dogs.

Steve explained that mother dogs naturally handle much of the care during the first few weeks, while foster families provide a safe environment and help puppies transition to soft food as they grow.

By fostering, volunteers support an entire family of dogs while helping Austin Pets Alive! make room for more animals.

Ready to meet Walter?

Walter is waiting for his forever family, and Austin Pets Alive! can help arrange a meet-and-greet for anyone interested in adopting him.
