Every day, new videos emerge of deranged lunatics calling for jihad, sharia law, or any other variety of insane things in which they believe. All here in the United States. They hate our country, values, and culture. In no way, shape, or form are they compatible with Americans. Yet, they continue flooding into the country, and now, are infiltrating our own Texas schools.

A new report from the Texas Public Policy Foundation claims that Texas public universities and even high schools are receiving substantial ideological and financial influence from Muslim nonprofits. Many of whom have strong financial ties to violent, radical Islamist extremist groups. Schools and districts are accepting fists full of cash but with the catch that some Islamic value be pushed into school programs. All in a tangled web of separation and deceit.

Hunter Burney of Texas Scorecard says the money being accepted has strings attached, whether they know it or not.

“There might be significant degrees of separation between the two, it is not like ISIS is writing a check to Dallas ISD…but that money is connecting this web of different organizations,” he says.

Among the schools listed in the TPPF study are Texas A&M University, the University of Houston, and the University of Texas at Dallas, among others. Texas A&M, to provide one example of the tangle mess of separation, has a deal with the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA).

IFANCA describes themselves as “dedicated to promoting halal through certification, education, and the creation and support of institutions.” Halal being food that is suitable for consumption by Muslims. They have donated millions to Texas A&M with the funds serving to establish a “program in food diversity,” and “prepare the next generation of globally aware food scientists.”

It seems like a great idea on the surface, as far as general basic food science goes. Minus the religious aspect. But there is a problem with it. They happen to also be a massive funder of one of America’s leading Islamist organizations, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), who have a violent past.

“They played a significant, violent role in the Bangladesh-Pakistan war of 1971…one of their affiliates was labeled as a global terrorist by the U.S. government,” says Burney.

The issue is that is hidden within this chaotic web of funding through degrees of separation. It is layered behind these “legitimate” purposes, which makes spotting the bad money from the good money difficult.

“It is hard to tell where that ends, and this more radical Islamist stuff begins,” says Burney. “If this group is connected to JI, and they are giving money to Texas A&M, there is not a sharp line to separate the two things.”

The good news though, is this has caught the attention of Texas Republicans. The legislative session in January is sure to have this topic front and center.

But it is a problem we need to take seriously. Radical Islam does not belong in America, much less in Texas schools, and never will.

The United States of America, among the many problems it has, also has a radical Islam problem.
