Illustration by Leonardo Cervantes<\/a><\/p>\nNew Student, Transition, and Family Programs will celebrate National Transfer Student Week from Monday to Oct. 23 with a series of events that aim to help transfer students connect with resources and the UTA community. <\/p>\n
The office coordinates with existing events and offers merchandise and information about Transfer Student Services, said Mya Dorm, transition support student coordinator. <\/p>\n
\u201cAs a transfer student, it\u2019s hard finding an identity at a new school, and we want to platform the fact that there\u2019s so many transfer students here at UTA and to celebrate them and to recognize them,\u201d Dorm said. <\/p>\n
Here is a list of the events corresponding with National Transfer Student Week on campus.<\/p>\n
Honor College Coffee Monday<\/p>\n
UTA\u2019s Honor College invites its students to grab free coffee with other students from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at College Hall. <\/p>\n
Research Subjects Training<\/p>\n
Graduate students can learn about policies for conducting research with human or animal subjects from noon to 1 p.m. Monday virtually. The event will also include discussions of research misconduct and the impacts of research. <\/p>\n
Students can register on UTA\u2019s website under the graduate workshops and programs tab. <\/p>\n
Fall Festivals<\/p>\n
Global Engagement is hosting a fall festival from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Brazos Park. The festival will include a petting zoo, a pop-up pumpkin patch and pumpkin spice chai. <\/p>\n
Maverick Mahjong Society meeting<\/p>\n
The Maverick Mahjong Society will be meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Maverick Activities Center in Room 213. Visitors do not need previous experience to attend the meeting and learn the game. <\/p>\n
Volleyball match against Tarleton State University<\/p>\n
Catch UTA\u2019s volleyball team go against Tarleton State University at 6 p.m. Tuesday at College Park Center. Students can get free access to the event by swiping their active UTA ID at Gate 2. <\/p>\n
Mindful Moments Under the Stars<\/p>\n
Counseling and Psychological Services will be teaching students how to be mindful and meditate from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday in the Planetarium. <\/p>\n
VA Benefits and Conversations<\/p>\n
Students can learn about veterans education benefits and options from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Military and Veteran Services office. <\/p>\n
Halloween Hump Night<\/p>\n
The National Pan-Hellenic Council and the Multicultural Greek Council are hosting a Halloween night from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at Brazos Park. Attendees can come dressed in Halloween costumes and enjoy music, strolling and line dancing. Face coverings are not allowed for costumes. <\/p>\n
Spookathon<\/p>\n
The American Institute of Graphic Arts invites students to attend its Spookathon event, which will include local vendors and a cosplay competition. The event is from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brazos Park. <\/p>\n
Pickleball for a Purpose<\/p>\n
Students can join the Delta Zeta sorority for pickleball games from 2:30 to 11 p.m. Thursday at the Maverick Activities Center indoor basketball courts. <\/p>\n
Global Grounds<\/p>\n
Transfer students can make a friend at Global Grounds from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bluebonnet Ballroom. Free chai and coffee will be available. <\/p>\n
SKY Campus Yoga<\/p>\n
Students looking for a way to de-stress can practice yoga from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Maverick Activities Center. The event is free for students, and no experience is required. <\/p>\n
Ride of Passage<\/p>\n
Walkable Arlington is hosting a group bicycle ride from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. The rides kick off in front of the Central Library and are open to riders of all levels. <\/p>\n
