Texas-based cooler and cup company Yeti<\/a> is suing a New York bedding company over dog beds.<\/p>\n

Yeti sued Bedgear, saying the company’s Performance Dog Bed is infringing upon Yeti’s own dog bed. And yes, Yeti makes dog beds<\/a>-apparently. The complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York<\/a> on October 9.<\/p>\n

Yeti officially launched its first dog bed, the Trailhead Dog Bed, in August 2019. The bed boasted a two-piece modular design, pairing a sturdy pillow bolster with a plush, removable Travel Pad that fit inside. It had a thick foam base, waterproof bottom, and a washable quilted cover. These intricately designed dog beds were released with a $300 price tag, then quietly retired around 2022.<\/p>\n

Since then, their value on the second-hand market has ballooned, with some fetching up to $1,000. These dog beds are probably nicer than most human beds, proportionally.<\/p>\n

In 2026, Yeti brought their beloved dog bed back, renaming it the Boomer Dog Bed to fit with their line of boomer dog bowls. The cooler brand redesigned the bed to one singular piece equipped with a waterproof base, a machine-washable cover, and, of course, thick foam for comfort.<\/p>\n

Bedgear released its first performance dog bed in May 2018, and is still selling beds today.<\/p>\n

Yeti’s lawsuit claims the Trailhead bed is infringed upon by Gedgear. The complaint says Bedgear’s Performance Dog Bed is similar to the Trailhead Bed, with both coming in two separate pieces. The complaint goes into great detail about how similar the two dog beds operate.<\/p>\n

And Yeti says Bedgear used its knowledge of Yeti products and the specific patents involved as a basis for the dog bed’s design.<\/p>\n

Yeti is seeking a recall of all products that have infringed on their patents, with full refunds and damages. They want Bedgear’s profits from the sales and attorney fees paid by the accused company.<\/p>\n

Chron has reached out to both Yeti and Bedgear regarding the lawsuit.<\/p>\n
