{"id":468114,"date":"2026-10-16T19:36:07","date_gmt":"2026-10-16T19:36:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/468114\/"},"modified":"2026-10-16T19:36:07","modified_gmt":"2026-10-16T19:36:07","slug":"man-dies-more-than-two-weeks-after-south-lubbock-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/468114\/","title":{"rendered":"Man dies more than two weeks after South Lubbock crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; The Lubbock Police Department\u2019s Major Crash Unit is investigating a late September collision in South Lubbock that turned fatal earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">On Sept. 25, Lubbock police were called to the intersection of 130th Street and Upland Avenue around 3:20 p.m. for a report of a collision with injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Officers who arrived at the scene located Mario Murillo, 68, and Jonathan Cartmell, 28. Murillo was transported to Covenant Medical Center and Cartmell was transported to University Medical Center. Both were listed with moderate injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Murillo died Oct. 10 from injuries he suffered in the crash. LPD\u2019s Major Crash Unit was notified by the Medical Examiner\u2019s office on Oct. 13.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Through the initial course of the investigation, police said it appears the pickup driven by Cartmell ran a stop sign and struck the pickup driven by Murillo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">No arrests have been made.
