EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 Strong overnight winds left a West El Paso home damaged after a large tree was uprooted and crashed onto the house, leaving the homeowner and her neighbor dealing with cleanup, repairs and insurance concerns.<\/p>\n
Cindy Limbird, who lives near Mora and Arboles, said she was awakened around 3:30 a.m. when she heard a loud noise.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was about 3:30 this morning, and I heard a big boom,\u201d Limbird said. \u201cI saw a shadow, and so I looked up and realized that the tree in my neighbor\u2019s yard had fallen into mine– onto my house.\u201d<\/p>\n
The tree was uprooted, tearing through the concrete sidewalk before falling onto the roof of Limbird\u2019s home.<\/p>\n
The impact left a hole in the roof and damaged a spare bedroom.<\/p>\n
Limbird said the winds grew increasingly strong overnight, but she did not expect them to become severe enough to bring down the tree.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt got strong and strong, and I thought, you know, this is weird. But I never expected the winds to be this high,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
RELATED: Gallery: Strong wind damage across El Paso<\/a><\/p>\n Destiny Venecia reports on uprooted tree in West El Paso<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Nikki Karmsrush, who lives next door to Limbird, said she was notified early Friday morning that the tree from her yard had fallen onto her neighbor\u2019s home.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a fun morning waking up to this,\u201d Karmsrush said. \u201cMy neighbor had called around 5:40 that our tree had fallen onto her house.\u201d<\/p>\n Karmsrush said her family had previously trimmed dead limbs from the tree.<\/p>\n \u201cI came out here at three in the morning, and this tree was rocking and rolling,\u201d Karmsrush said. \u201cWe never were that concerned about it.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite the damage, both women said they were grateful no one was injured.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was kinda scary. I\u2019m just happy she was not in that bedroom because it\u2019s destroyed,\u201d Karmsrush said.<\/p>\n Tree service crews began cutting the fallen tree into sections to remove it from the roof and allow repairs to begin.<\/p>\n Limbird said her insurance adjuster was expected to assess the damage within the next 24 hours. <\/p>\n Tree removal and cleanup could continue through the weekend.<\/p>\n RELATED: Weather Warn Thursday\/Friday: Strong Winds<\/a><\/p>\n
