EL PASO, Texas (KTSM<\/a>) \u2014 The Northern Lights were visible in the Borderland on Tuesday night, Nov. 11, and KTSM 9 News received photos from our viewers showing how they lit up the sky.<\/p>\n

You may not see the lights, but your phone probably will <\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

According to NOAA, the Earth is experiencing a G4-Level Geomagnetic Storm, which is considered a \u201csevere\u201d disruption to the Earth\u2019s magnetic field.<\/p>\n

As increased energy and photons from the sun slam into the Earth\u2019s magnetic field, that field acts as a deflection shield, absorbing the additional energy and protecting the Earth\u2019s surface. As the electrons return to their normal, \u201crelaxed\u201d state, they emit a frequency that is perceived as red, green, or even aqua.<\/p>\n

Sometimes, the colors are not evident to the human eye, but a scan with your phone can reveal the colors.<\/p>\n

Those who missed the Northern Lights on Tuesday still have a chance to see them on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n
