HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. \u2013 UT Arlington women’s golf completed the opening round of the Diamante Invitational on Sunday. The Mavericks shot a 17-over-par 305 as a team, placing them 19th out of 20 teams heading into the second round.

\nUTA sits just two strokes behind East Texas A&M for 18th place. Sam Houston leads the field after firing a 15-under 273, followed by Central Arkansas at 7-under 281.

\nKylie Ruston<\/a> led the way for the Mavericks, carding a 3-over 75 in the opening round. The junior sits in a tie for 70th place overall heading into the second day of competition.

\nRaeley Hickman<\/a> followed closely behind Ruston, posting a 4-over 76. Hickman is currently tied for 76th place, just one stroke behind her teammate.

\nA pair of Mavericks finished right behind Hickman with rounds of 5-over 77. Chloe De Verner<\/a> was one, finishing her opening round tied for 86th place overall.

\nCarmen Gonzalez Lo-A-Njoe<\/a> matched De Verner’s effort with a 5-over 77 of her own. The senior also sits in a tie for 86th place heading into Monday’s second round.

\nNirjara Gulhane<\/a> rounded out the UTA lineup after posting an 8-over 80 in the first round. Gulhane is tied for 101st place overall.

\nUTA continues the Diamante Invitational on Monday at Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.<\/p>\n
