On Saturday evening, Zillionaire Doe and Headhuncho Amir — key figures in the New Dallas movement, a local rap collective that intentionally abandons the neighborhood beef that defined past music rivalries — stood united to deliver an unforgettable concert and preview the evolution of their movement at Gilley’s Dallas.

The show also marked the first time the New Dallas collaborators had performed together since BigXThaPlug’s Birthday Bash.

Spearheaded by Amir, Doe and Montana 700, the New Dallas movement rose to popularity in 2024. Now, their movement has an ever-growing roster of over a dozen recording artists.

CLOSE

“I know y’all set some new goals this year,” Headhuncho Amir said as he began his set with “New Goals” from his 2024 album “Ain Nun Bigger.”

His performance follows the East Dallas native’s breakout summer, which included the release of his latest album, “All My Intentions Real,” his best work yet. A talented lyricist, the larger-than-life rapper hypnotized the crowd with clever wordplay and commanding presence on “10 Figures,” “Hands On” and “1050,” as fans recited the lyrics word-for-word.

""Headhuncho Amir opened the show with a set that honored his childhood friend and rapper who died earlier this year, ZeeTheWizard.

The rapper shared the stage with others, introducing new artists Big Boi The Topic and Splurge.

A key portion of the show was honoring ZeeTheWizard, a member of the New Dallas movement who died in a shooting in January. Amir, who grew up with ZeeTheWizard, remembered the late rapper early in his set.

“Love live Wiz,” he said.

Zillionaire Doe honors his city

Doe’s overwhelming popularity was felt immediately after he emerged from behind the curtain. Fans quickly rushed to the stage to watch the hometown star perform “Trap Motivation.”

His set was an appreciation to his day-one fans. Though he’s released four new songs this year, he only performed one, “Go Crazy.” As he worked through “Life’s Great,” “Pull Up,” “Hidden Gem” and “Jumping Jack,” Doe interacted with fans and posed for pictures. Before performing “D Boi Dreams,” a fan favorite, Doe professed his loyalty to his city.

“Hey triple D, what the fuck poppin’? It feels good to be back home,” he said to the crowd. “It always feels good to be at home and feel the love … It’s a blessing to still be standing here today, talking on a microphone.”

""Zillionaire Doe is one of the biggest rap stars from Dallas right now.

Doe then introduced emerging Dallas rapper Hardhead Melly, who was just released from prison.

“Little brother just maxed out about a month or two ago,” Doe said before performing their collaborative song, ‘Spot Jumpin.’ “So, we going to introduce little brother like this – welcome him home like this. Hardhead, where you at, baby?”

He also echoed Amir’s honoring ZeeTheWizard.

“We love you baby boy, hold it down for you, put it down for you, forever, know that,” Doe said.

A not-so-surprising surprise guest performs

Montana 700 was not billed for Saturday night’s concert but appeared to perform his signature track, “She Luv Dat.” Alongside Doe, the duo watched the crowd erupt as they performed “70042.”

Finally, Doe, Amir and Montana 700, the leaders of the collective, joined each other on stage. Each of their sets blended together with performances of collaborative tracks and notable hits.

""Montana 700’s surprise appearance at the show wasn’t that surprising to loyal fans.

To end the concert, New Dallas and the audience united to perform an a cappella version of the Doe classic, “Back To The South.” Without missing a word, the fans showed their unwavering support for the movement, while the collective stood proud, admiring the view.

“Aye, man, I appreciate everybody that came out to rock with me and my brother, man,” Amir expressed as Doe co-signed. “We love y’all from the bottom of our hearts… We fuckin’ with everybody out here.
