{"id":470439,"date":"2026-10-19T11:22:34","date_gmt":"2026-10-19T11:22:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/470439\/"},"modified":"2026-10-19T11:22:34","modified_gmt":"2026-10-19T11:22:34","slug":"deadly-crash-shuts-down-i-10-east-freeway-in-channelview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/470439\/","title":{"rendered":"Deadly crash shuts down I-10 East Freeway in Channelview"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two people were killed Tuesday after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chron.com\/news\/article\/houston-dangerous-intersections-22465635.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">major crash<\/a> shut down the eastbound lanes of the East Freeway in Channelview for hours.<\/p>\n<p>The crash happened shortly before noon on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chron.com\/news\/article\/houston-i10-connector-closure-22464450.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Interstate 10 <\/a>near Monmouth, where at least three vehicles were initially reported to be involved, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said. Authorities have released preliminary details about two of the vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>A white Jeep Wrangler and a red Ford Explorer were traveling eastbound on the freeway when the Explorer&#8217;s driver, whom Gonzalez described as &#8220;driving recklessly,&#8221; rear-ended the Jeep. The Explorer then went down an embankment, according to Gonzalez.<\/p>\n<p>The driver and passenger inside the Explorer were pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>One person was inside the Jeep and suffered minor injuries, according to Gonzalez.
