The event will be held at The Long Time, a sandlot baseball field just east of Austin. Tickets are available by donating $100 or more to the Talarico Victory Fund, which goes directly to the candidate’s campaign.

While Yo La Tengo has played shows in Austin with some regularity over the years, the New York band’s presence in the capital city is still somewhat rare, making the occasion particularly noteworthy. The group members aren’t the only musicians to publicly back Talarico, who also received endorsements from Willie Nelson, The Chicks, and Kacey Musgraves. Over the weekend, The Chicks brought Talarico onstage with them at their show in San Antonio, and Musgraves posed for photos with the candidate at her Moody Center show last week.

The fundraiser arrives at a moment when Talarico recently announced that he had raised $64 million during the third quarter of 2026, setting a U.S. Senate record for third-quarter fundraising. By comparison, Paxton raised just $18 million in that time, but it was recently revealed that the world’s wealthiest man and Texas resident Elon Musk made $158 million in contributions in September to a Republican super PAC that aids Texas candidates.

Since the much larger sum was donated through a PAC rather than raised by the campaign, Talarico’s record remains, but the disparity underscores the phenomenon of a candidate raising more money from individual, direct donors yet still being outspent by a wide margin. It also paints a clear picture of Musk’s continued involvement in political races. The business tycoon donated approximately $290 million to the Trump campaign around the 2024 election.

Political pundits have noted the intensity of GOP fundraising in the face of Talarico’s popularity, especially as hot-button issues like data centers have thrown this Senate race into uncertainty. In the past few days, both candidates have embarked on their final run of public appearances across the state.

The election in Texas has captured national attention, with President Trump campaigning for Paxton on a number of occasions, and Talarico making several high-profile appearances on national programs. Early voting begins Oct. 19 and election day is Nov. 3.

Organized by members of Austin sandlot baseball squad The Texas Playboys, indie rock royalty Yo La Tengo will…

[11
132,134,133
post-470709","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-austin","tag-austin","tag-austin-headlines","tag-austin-news
["GET
