{"id":471095,"date":"2026-10-20T01:22:07","date_gmt":"2026-10-20T01:22:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/471095\/"},"modified":"2026-10-20T01:22:07","modified_gmt":"2026-10-20T01:22:07","slug":"austin-police-seek-woman-accused-of-stealing-truck-fleeing-injury-crash-on-bicycle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/471095\/","title":{"rendered":"Austin police seek woman accused of stealing truck, fleeing injury crash on bicycle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AUSTIN, Texas \u2014 Austin police are asking for the public&#8217;s help identifying a woman suspected of stealing a pickup truck and later fleeing the scene of a crash that left another driver injured.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Austin Police Department, a white 2011 Ford F-250 was stolen from a mechanic shop in the 7200 block of the westbound U.S. Highway 290 service road around 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6. The following morning, around 7:40 a.m. on Oct. 7, the stolen truck was involved in a collision with another vehicle in the 7900 block of northbound Research Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p>Police said the truck&#8217;s driver left the scene without providing information and fled on a yellow bicycle taken from the bed of the pickup. The other driver suffered minor injuries in the crash.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/early-voting-begins-in-travis-county-as-voter-registration-nears-1-million\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ALSO| Early voting begins in Travis County as voter registration nears 1 million<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Detectives believe the woman seen in surveillance video stealing the truck is the same person who fled the collision.<\/p>\n<p>APD described the woman as Black or Hispanic, approximately 45 to 50 years old, heavyset, and having crooked teeth. She was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, jeans and gray-and-white shoes.<\/p>\n<p>Police released surveillance footage in hopes someone may recognize her appearance, walk, or mannerisms.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information is asked to contact Austin police. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Capital Area Crime Stoppers at austincrimestoppers.org or 512-472-8477.
