From 3 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Brazos Park, students can participate in crafts, visit with animals at a petting zoo and enjoy a pop-up pumpkin patch at a fall festival.

Hosted by Global Engagement, the event is a celebration of a new season and the culture that is attached to the fall season across multiple countries, said Adesuwa Elohor Idehen, Global Engagement student administrative assistant. From Pakistan to South Korea, many cultures hold festivals during the season.

“In some cultures, fall is nothing too significant; it’s just a change in the weather,” Idehen said. “But for some cultures, it’s more significant, like in Korea, where they celebrate Chuseok.”

She said that by hosting this event, Global Engagement is attempting to educate students about the autumn season across different cultures.

Attendees will be able to paint fans and diyas and make bracelets, Idehen said.

“When we can understand other people’s cultures, we can tend to be more tolerant and respectful, and it’s just more peaceful for everyone involved,” she said.

Several desserts will be available, like cupcakes and pumpkin spice mocktails, Idehen said.

“It’s just a time for students to enjoy not just the fall but understand the significance of it in different cultures,” she said.
