A wreck involving a semitrailer and several vehicles occurred on Transmountain Road at the overpass over Interstate 10 in West El Paso on Oct. 19, 2026.<\/p>\n
El Paso police said that the crash is under investigation by the Special Traffic Investigations Unit.<\/p>\n

El Paso Fire Department spokesman Hector Gonzalez said there were a total of 10 patients at the Transmountain Road crash scene.<\/p>\n
One patient was flown to a hospital via the Fire STAR ambulance helicopter<\/a>; four were transported to a hospital under Code 1, the least serious transport code; and four people refused transportation to a hospital, Gonzalez said.<\/p>\n El Paso police spokeswoman Detective Judy Oviedo said one man died in the collision, which involved a semitrailer and about five other vehicles. The investigation continues, she added.<\/p>\n Transmountain Road intersection closed in West El Paso<\/p>\n The Texas Department of Transportation highway map shows that the Transmountain westbound is closed at the intersection, with a “critical” incident listed at the foot of the mountain road.<\/p>\n More: El Paso fatal crash tracker 2026<\/a><\/p>\n All westbound lanes of Loop 375 (Transmountain Road) are closed at Exit 11A (Northwestern Drive), and Loop 375 East (Transmountain Road) is closed at the I-10 overpass, TxDOT said in a post on X.<\/p>\n All lanes of North Desert Boulevard at Transmountain Road are also closed, with traffic being diverted onto I-10.<\/p>\n The closure is until further notice.<\/p>\n Daniel Borunda may be reached at dborunda@elpasotimes.com and @BorundaDaniel<\/a> on X.<\/p>\n .<\/p>\n
