LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Students at the Rawls College of Business got a chance to pitch their projects to real potential customers at \u2018The Marketplace\u2019 on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is Bluebonnet Golf,\u201d Jaxon Tilley said. \u201cThis is my business I started with my brother and my business partners. It is Texas-themed golf wear.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cI made 100 buttons last night with the old-time button clamping machine,\u201d Courtney Sweet said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAetheria is a clothing brand that bridges the gap between the digital world and WEB3, NFTs, Crypto,\u201d Nick Nolette said.<\/p>\n
\u201cTableman, my mantra is everything should be sustainable, affordable and also a fun design for everyone,\u201d Zach Darby said.<\/p>\n
Some of these students have been thinking about starting a business for a long time.<\/p>\n
\u201cI grew up in San Antonio,\u201d Tilley said, \u201cand so my family and I used to go and take photos of the bluebonnets and that was something I just felt was in me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe decided…do we want to keep building someone else\u2019s dream, or build our own?\u201d Hayden Williams said, promoting Aetheria.<\/p>\n
For others, it\u2019s more than just about a business, it\u2019s about making a difference in the community. Sweet and Hunter sold their own buttons and boot ribbons, with 100% of the proceeds going to UMC Children\u2019s Hospital.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou just see the physical impact that you have when you raise this money and where it actually goes to,\u201d Sweet said, \u201cand you see all of the new equipment and everything and it\u2019s lifesaving equipment that they would not have access to without this.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u2018The Marketplace\u2019 is serving as a way for students to get their name out there and push towards success here in the hub city. These students say they\u2019re grateful for Texas Tech for giving them this platform and can\u2019t wait for what\u2019s to come.<\/p>\n
\u201cTexas Tech as a campus has truly been a great environment as well as providing a great experience for me,\u201d Darby said, \u201cand I wouldn\u2019t have been able to do marketing, product design and all of this work without the education I\u2019ve received.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve been getting good traffic coming by,\u201d Hunter said. Love talking to everybody and also raising awareness for our organization and the hospital as well. It\u2019s been great.\u201d<\/p>\n
