Everything\u2019s bigger in Texas<\/a>, including\u00a0the tall tales. AT&T Stadium, the gargantuan Arlington home of the Dallas Cowboys, has just been named America\u2019s most haunted sports venue in a new ranking from The Sports Geek<\/a>. The 80,000-seat stadium scored 62 out of 100, beating out legendary baseball parks and historic arenas despite only opening in 2009. Who says you need a century of history to collect a few restless spirits?\u00a0<\/p>\n

The ranking examined 47 stadiums and arenas across the United States and Canada, scoring venues on factors including documented ghost stories, historical tragedies, nearby burial grounds and reported paranormal investigations.\u00a0Not that anybody has proven that these places are haunted (or even proven the existence of ghosts), but with Halloween around the corner, we’re not about to let a little thing like evidence ruin a perfectly good ghost story.<\/p>\n

So what makes the Cowboys\u2019 home stadium such a spooky contender? According to the report, former stadium employee Selena Sixtos described hearing movement inside a restroom stall late at night, only to discover that nobody was there. Creepy, right? Other\u00a0stories include unexplained voices, shadowy figures and footsteps that mysteriously stop when someone approaches. Not to mention a cold spot outside of the room named in honor of former coach Tom Landry. Since he’s dead, the cold spot must be his spirit!<\/p>\n

The rest of the list proves that AT&T Stadium isn\u2019t the only venue with a few ghosts in the cheap seats. Los Angeles\u2019 Dodger Stadium<\/a> came in second, with 60 out of 100 points, thanks in part to tales of a mysterious, screaming woman in white. Chicago\u2019s Wrigley Field<\/a> ranked third, where the spirits of former Cubs manager Charlie Grimm and broadcaster Harry Caray supposedly linger, followed by Columbus\u2019 Nationwide Arena, built on part of the former Ohio Penitentiary site, where 322 people died in a 1930 prison fire.<\/p>\n

Boston\u2019s Fenway Park\u2014the oldest stadium in the country\u2014landed in the fifth slot, with rumors that beloved former Red Sox announcer Sherm Feller still haunts his old booth. New Orleans\u2019 Caesars Superdome took sixth, thanks to a long-running curse supposedly tied to a nearby cemetery, while Detroit\u2019s Comerica Park ranked seventh amid stories of ghostly appearances by baseball legend Ty Cobb. Eighth place went to the original Highmark Stadium in Buffalo, where a nearby cemetery has fueled theories about a Bills curse; Green Bay\u2019s Lambeau Field followed at No. 9, with the ghost of legendary coach Vince Lombardi reportedly roaming the Packers\u2019 home turf. And Montreal\u2019s Bell Centre rounded out the top 10.<\/p>\n

The ranking measures documented folklore and historical context, not proof of ghosts. Still, if you’re heading to Arlington for a game, perhaps keep an eye on the restroom stalls\u2014and don’t investigate any suspicious\u00a0noises after dark.
