Texans are already lining up to vote, and Election Day, November 3, 2026, is now just weeks away. Just when you\u2019d expect a wave of last-minute, high-profile celebrity endorsements, blockbuster actor Matthew McConaughey dropped a 6-minute endorsement for no one.<\/p>\n
Rather than endorsing a candidate, or even a party, McConaughey simply threw his support behind a vaguely defined notion of political independence, saying: \u201cNow let\u2019s clear something up about the word \u2018independent.\u2019 Independent doesn\u2019t mean middle of the road; independent was the original road.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jared Woodfill, with Conservative Republicans of Texas, says this just looks like an attempt by McConaughey to capitalize on the elections and gain more attention. He said: \u201cThis is someone who\u2019s saying, \u2018I\u2019m not gonna review what these parties stand for; I\u2019m just gonna say, go be independent,\u2019 hoping it will draw more attention to my brand.\u201d<\/p>\n
