Peterson announced Wednesday he is running for Lubbock County Commissioner, Precinct 4.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Peterson said he is committed to improving public safety and strengthening county infrastructure. He addressed his resignation from public office and personal changes since then.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIn 2018, I got a DWI and it was life changing for me and at that point I decided to resign to work on my health because at that time I was 640 pounds,\u201d Peterson said. \u201cSince then, I also started a small business a few months before that, so I decided to resign and concentrate on my health and my new company.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Peterson is running as a Republican in next year\u2019s election. Jordan Rackler, also a Republican, is the incumbent in Precinct 4 and is running for re-election.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The party primaries are in March.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 KCBD.
