Maverick Golf &amp; Ranch Club will include nearly 500 homes, with Discovery Land Company developing the community on about 1,100 acres. The developer also created the Vaquero Club in Westlake. At Maverick, architect Tom Fazio designed the new main golf course. The first housing phase includes 100 lots and 36 developer-built cottages. A second phase will add another 45 lots to the community. Home lots start at $1.5 million and go up to $3.7 million. Most proposed custom homes exceed 6,000 square feet. The course passes an 11-acre lake and recirculating streams, with a farmhouse, dining area and homes overlooking part of the layout. Golfers can choose more challenging or easier tee locations. Comfort stations provide places to stop for food or use the bathroom.
