HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Investigators are looking into what caused an apparent shootout in the city’s southside overnight, according to the Houston Police Department.<\/p>\n
HPD said that officers arrived at the 1000 block of West Orem Road and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso area. Officials said it appeared that he had been shot through the car.<\/p>\n
He was taken to the hospital where he is said to be critical. It was learned that the man’s girlfriend was also in the car with him but was not injured.<\/p>\n
Later, officers at that scene received another shooting call that was a couple blocks away from the Orem scene. Officials said a home had been shot at following a shootout between the man who was found injured and a suspect who was not caught at the scene.<\/p>\n
Officials said the home was occupied , but there were no other reported injuries.<\/p>\n
According to police, following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene and rear-ended another driver, who stayed at the scene to speak to police.<\/p>\n
Officials did not specify if it was road rage but believe that something transpired moments before gunshots rang out.<\/p>\n
