A North Texas woman whose traffic stop video went viral<\/a> on social media was sentenced to two weeks in jail earlier this month after she pleaded guilty to resisting arrest.<\/p>\n

Taneisha Thompson was sentenced to 14 days in the Tarrant County jail on Oct. 2 with credit for five days served. She was released from jail after completing the sentence for the misdemeanor charge, according to court records.<\/p>\n

On Jan. 16, Thompson, with her 15-year-old son in the car, was driving through Hurst when she was stopped for speeding in a school zone.<\/p>\n

The footage of the traffic stop got over a million views<\/a> on X after Lee Merritt, a civil rights attorney who represented Thompson at the time, posted the video.<\/p>\n

Thompson accused Hurst police of using excessive force, but an internal investigation found that the police officers followed de-escalation procedures.<\/p>\n

Thompson was treated at a hospital<\/a> after a Hurst police officer pulled her from her car following the traffic stop. Thompson recorded her interaction with the police on her car\u2019s dashboard camera. Police also released bodycam video of the incident.<\/p>\n

The dashcam video shows the officer telling Thompson that she had littered when she threw her traffic citation out of the car window.<\/p>\n

The officer grabbed Thompson\u2019s arm, and she told the officer to let go and that he was holding her arm too tightly. The officer tells the woman she is under arrest and asks her to get out of the car. She says she won\u2019t get out until his supervisor arrives. About a minute later, the officer reaches in the vehicle, pulls the woman out and takes her to the ground.<\/p>\n

Her 15-year-old son can be heard in the background pleading with his mom and the officer to stop.<\/p>\n

An excessive force complaint was filed on Jan. 20, according to the Hurst Police Department. The investigation was closed after authorities determined Thompson\u2019s claims were unfounded, the department said.<\/p>\n
