Harris County’s first week of early voting beats every midterm on record. <\/p>\n
More than half a million people have cast a ballot since the polls opened Monday, that’s 20 percent of the county’s registered voters. No midterm in county records has kicked off this early with these numbers since 1998.<\/p>\n
More than 104,000 people voted in person Monday, a first-day record for a midterm and more than voted on any single day of early voting in 2018 or 2022. Every day since, the polls have shown more voter turnout beating the same day in both of the last two midterms.<\/p>\n
The top of the ballot gives voters plenty of reasons to show up. John Cornyn’s U.S. Senate seat is up for grabs after Attorney General Ken Paxton beat him in the Republican primary runoff in May. Paxton faces Democrat James Talarico and Libertarian Ted Brown. Gov. Greg Abbott is seeking a fourth term against Democrat Gina Hinojosa and Libertarian Pat Dixon.<\/p>\n
By Saturday morning, more than 95 thousand Texans voted in Harris County.<\/p>\n
Early voting continues today until Friday, October 30th. <\/p>\n
