LUBBOCK, Texas \u2014 Los Hermanos Familia has recovered its stolen equipment trailer, but the nonprofit says significant damage and missing supplies have left it facing substantial replacement costs.<\/p>\n

The trailer contained equipment used for the organization\u2019s annual Vamos a Pescar, Let\u2019s Go Fishing event, a free family fishing event in Lubbock.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe found it!\u201d the organization announced in an update.<\/p>\n

But the recovery came with disappointing news. According to the organization, a World War II-era tent, approximately 170 poles, tools and lighting equipment are missing. Tables and other contents were damaged, and the trailer itself sustained significant damage.<\/p>\n

The organization said all locks had been cut or damaged.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will have to get a new trailer,\u201d the organization said, adding that a complete assessment of the losses will be conducted after the equipment is returned home.<\/p>\n

Insurance won\u2019t cover equipment losses<\/p>\n

Although the trailer has been located, Los Hermanos Familia says its insurance will not cover the contents, leaving the nonprofit to replace missing and damaged equipment through community support.<\/p>\n

The organization has established the \u201cVamos a Pescar, Let\u2019s Go Fishing\u201d Equipment Recovery Fund to help cover those losses.<\/p>\n

Donations can be made online at loshermanosfamilia.org\/makeadonation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Contributions can also be directed to the fund through the Community Foundation of West Texas, 6102 82nd Street, Lubbock, TX 79424. Donors should designate their contributions for the \u201cVamos a Pescar, Let\u2019s Go Fishing\u201d Equipment Recovery Fund.<\/p>\n

Grateful for community support<\/p>\n

Despite the losses, the organization expressed gratitude to the community for its help following the theft.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to still need the public\u2019s help since insurance won\u2019t cover but I\u2019m so grateful to the public!\u201d the organization said.<\/p>\n

A full inventory of the damage and missing equipment remains pending.<\/p>\n

Lubbock Lights will continue following developments as the organization works to recover from the theft and replace the equipment needed for its community events.<\/p>\n
