During a news <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kvue.com\/video\/news\/local\/state-rep-gina-hinojosa-texas-governor-race-announcement\/269-a3ec39d2-9d07-4a97-ae60-e30cf552ac51\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">interview<\/a> this morning with Ashley Goudeau, Hinojosa confirmed that she is running for governor.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Handbook-Winning-El-Paso-Elections\/dp\/0988411334\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"970\" height=\"250\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/election_book_ad1.png\" alt=\"Advertiser banner\" class=\"wp-image-131\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>She will be announcing later today from Brownsville, where she grew up. When Goudeau asked if the people of The Valley would help her win the election, she replied that the Texas valley voters are \u201cessential\u201d to her winning. The Valley is the common name for the Rio Grande Valley which is in the southernmost part of Texas. It includes Brownsville.<\/p>\n<p>When asked if Texas was ready for a Democrat, she said that \u201cTexans are ready for change,\u201d she added that she sees \u201ca realignment\u201d because \u201cpolitics as usual doesn\u2019t cut it anymore.\u201d Because \u201cit is top versus bottom.\u201d She closed with \u201cthat is the agenda that I will be leading with in this run for governor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her original website address, ginaforaustin.com was set to private yesterday and another domain name, ginafortexas.org was registered 31 days ago but does not have an active website as of this morning.<\/p>\n<p>Hinojosa joins a crowded field of candidates for the Democratic March 2026 primaries. They include rancher Bobby Cole, Bay city representative Benjamin Flores, Nick Pappas and former Texas Governor Mark White\u2019s son, Andrew White.<\/p>\n<p>Her announcement now opens the door for C\u00e9sar Blanco\u2019s chief of staff, Josh Reyna to run for Hinojosa\u2019s House District 49 seat.
