announced<\/a> in an online statement at 8:37 a.m. that officers are maintaining a heavy law enforcement presence near the intersection after three individuals fled a traffic stop on foot. Authorities say the individuals were last seen wearing black clothing.<\/p>\n“Deputies and partnering agencies have established a perimeter and are actively searching the area,” the BCSO said. “There is no immediate threat to the public.”<\/p>\n
Residents are being urged to keep their doors locked, remain vigilant, and report suspicious activity by calling 911 or the BCSO Dispatch at (210) 335-6000.<\/p>\n
“We are still searching for these three individuals,” the BCSO told MySA in an email statement at 9:15 a.m. “There is no immediate threat to the public at this time. There will be heavy law enforcement in the area for the time being.”<\/p>\n
Two Northside Independent School District (ISD) campuses were temporarily\u00a0impacted by the situation. Assistant Superintendent for Communications Barry Perez tells MySA that Bernal Middle School and Langley Elementary School entered secure status at approximately 8:09 a.m.<\/p>\n
“A secure means any outdoor activity is brought inside, all exterior doors are secured, staff monitor entries and exits but student activity continues inside the building,” Perez said. “Out of an abundance of caution, NISD police increased presence near both schools this morning during the secure.”<\/p>\n
However, the status was lifted at 8:52 a.m. Both campuses are now\u00a0operating on regular schedules.<\/p>\n
