Texans, get ready to turn back the clocks and reclaim that precious hour of sleep, because daylight saving time is coming to an end.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0Time and Date<\/a>, daylight saving time officially ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, when clocks will “fall back” one hour to 1 a.m. That means an extra hour of shut-eye for sleepy Texans, or another 60 minutes of late-night shenanigans for those who prefer staying up.<\/p>\n

Of course, there’s a catch. While the time change brings brighter mornings, it also means the sun will start setting earlier in the evening \u2014 so if you’re not a fan of heading home from work in the dark, consider this your warning.<\/p>\n

In San Antonio, the sunset on Nov. 1<\/a> will happen at around 5:52 p.m., shifting from about 6:43 p.m. at the end of October.<\/p>\n

The good news? Most smartphones, computers and other internet-connected devices will adjust automatically. Older clocks, microwaves and car dashboards may need to be reset manually.<\/p>\n

Although state lawmakers have tried to put an end to the practice, the time-shuffling tradition isn’t going anywhere yet.<\/p>\n

In 2025,\u00a0Gov. Greg Abbott signed House Bill 1393, which would keep Texas on daylight saving time year-round if Congress authorizes states to make the switch. Texas is among 19 states that have passed laws supporting year-round daylight saving time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At the federal level, the House passed the Sunshine Protection Act in July 2026. After that, the bill was referred to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. It still needs Senate approval and the president\u2019s signature before it can become law.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For Texans dreading darker evenings, daylight saving time is scheduled to return March 14, 2027.
