EAGLE PASS, Texas – Seventeen days after a mass shooting at the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino that left two dead and five injured, a large concrete wall now stands at the casino\u2019s main entrance. <\/p>\n

The barrier, accompanied by new mobile guard stations and heavily armed patrols, appeared suddenly, signaling a dramatic security escalation.<\/p>\n

The Eagle Pass News Leader is reporting that the upgrades follow a high-level security meeting that included the DEA, ICE, FBI, local authorities and Mexican officials. The presence of these agencies may reflect heightened threat assessments, though details remain undisclosed.<\/p>\n

Security measures have expanded beyond the gaming floor to include the hotel, VIP parking areas, main access roads, and Tierra Soberana Road off Indio Highway. Authorities can now stop and question suspicious vehicles entering the area.<\/p>\n

The shooting took place on Sept. 27 when a gunman opened fire inside the venue, sending guests scrambling for safety. The shooting left two people dead, 30-year-old Alicia Danielle Sanchez and retired U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent Marcus Antley, and at least five others wounded.<\/p>\n

Authorities identified the suspect as 34-year-old Keryan Jones of San Antonio, who was later arrested after a multi-county pursuit.<\/p>\n

The bond for Jones was recently raised to $5.1 million after authorities filed two additional charges against him. <\/p>\n

Justice of the Peace Tere Hern\u00e1ndez confirmed the updated total, explaining that the new charges include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and exhibiting a deadly weapon while committing an assault. Each new charge carries a $300,000 bond.<\/p>\n

Jones remains behind bars at the Tom Bowles Detention Center in Maverick County.<\/p>\n

Despite these visible precautions, questions remain unanswered. Investigators have yet to release a motive for the shooting, leaving families, casino employees, and patrons uncertain about safety and the future security of the complex.<\/p>\n
