The Cowboys<\/a> got their groove back in the City of Brotherly Love. Dallas ended its two-game losing skid by recording a 38-21 win over the Eagles<\/a>, who have now lost five straight games.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dallas’ offense was unstoppable most of the night. Dallas scored on four of its five possessions in the first half and took a 20-14 lead at halftime. Philadelphia briefly took the lead in the second half before the Cowboys’ offense mounted three unanswered scoring drives. Dallas put the game away when Javonte Williams<\/a> found paydirt from two yards out with 2:21 left.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Conversely, it was a tremendous night for Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott<\/a>, who threw two touchdown passes to CeeDee Lamb<\/a> and another to George Pickens<\/a>. Prescott was complemented by Williams, who rumbled for a career-high 155 yards on 25 carries.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Saquon Barkley<\/a> suited up for the first time in Week 4. He had a big first drive that included 49 total yards and an eight-yard touchdown run. Barkley had just one carry in the second half, however, as he clearly still isn’t 100 percent.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Turning point\u00a0<\/p>\n

Philadelphia scored touchdowns on its first two drives before finishing the first half with consecutive punts. The Eagles’ offense responded with a 17-play, 84-yard drive that was punctuated by Makai Lemon’s<\/a> first career touchdown catch.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dallas responded with a nine-play, 61-yard drive that was capped off by Lamb’s over-the-shoulder touchdown catch on a perfectly thrown pass from Prescott. The score gave the Cowboys a lead they would not relinquish.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At that point, it became clear that the Eagles’ defense had no answers for the Cowboys’ offense, and that McKee was going to have to beat Prescott in a shootout. That obviously didn’t happen.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Speaking of Prescott, he is now 5-0 on Monday night road games for his career. He now has 13 career touchdown passes and zero interceptions in eight games in Philadelphia.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Prescott also passed hall of Famer Roger Staubach for second in career regular season wins by a Cowboys starting quarterback. Prescott’s 86 regular season wins is eight behind Hall of Famer Troy Aikman for the most in franchise history.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Balanced offense\u00a0<\/p>\n

Prescott’s struggles during the Cowboys’ recent losing streak can at least somewhat be attributed to Dallas’ dormant running game. That wasn’t the case on Monday, as Williams had his first 100-yard game in over a year. He is the first Cowboys running back since Ezekiel Elliott<\/a> (back in 2018) to rush for at least 150 yards in a game.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Doomsday Defense<\/p>\n

OK, they might be Doomsday, but the Cowboys’ defense played well after a slow start. They allowed just one score on Philadelphia’s final seven possessions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Cowboys’ defense didn’t allow McKee to counter after Prescott and Lamb gave the Cowboys the lead late in the third quarter. The Eagles’ next three possessions ended with a punt, an interception and a turnover on downs. Dallas scored two more times over that span to put the game on ice.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Cowboys’ most impressive defensive play was DeMarvion Overshown’s<\/a> incredible interception with the Cowboys protecting a 10-point lead midway through the fourth quarter.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Eagles run out of gas\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Eagles were home underdogs for a reason. They don’t have starting quarterback Jalen Hurts<\/a> and were missing several other key players on Monday that included receivers DeVonta Smith<\/a>, Dontayvion Wicks<\/a> and linebacker Nolan Smith<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite their injuries, the Eagles had the lead in the second half and were within striking distance of the Cowboys for most of the game. In the end, though, the Eagles were unable to mask their talent disparity.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Barkley’s absence in the second half didn’t help, either. Barkley had 50 yards on six carries in the first half but was a non-factor in the second half. His hamstring is clearly still an issue.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Philadelphia’s biggest bright spot was Lemon, who had his best game to date with seven catches (on eight targets) for 67 yards and his first touchdown.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Cowboys got their groove back in the City of Brotherly Love.
