James Talarico spoke out against data centers and his GOP opponent Ken Paxton for the U.S. Senate in a late push to rally supporters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Talarico compared the last week of early voting to the last drive in a football game, on theme with his &#8220;Clear Eyes, Full Hearts,&#8221; campaign, borrowed from the &#8220;Friday Night Lights&#8221; television show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In a new poll conducted by Texas Public Onion Research, Talarico holds a slight lead over Paxton with 51 percent in support compared to Paxton&#8217;s 47 percent. The nonprofit&#8217;s poll noted a slight erosion in Talarico&#8217;s lead over Paxton compared to one conducted in August.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Paxton, the Republican nominee for the Senate seat and the state&#8217;s longtime attorney general, will be in El Paso on Sunday. Paxton is expected to hold his campaign rally at the Orca Event Venue on Rojas Drive as part of his &#8220;Come and Take It&#8221; bus tour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Monday&#8217;s rally was Talarico&#8217;s third visit to El Paso. Paxton&#8217;s Sunday rally will mark his second visit to the border city this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Early voting ends on Friday, Oct. 30, and Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
