Post-lunch hour traffic turned into a nightmare for drivers on the Northeast Side of San Antonio on Wednesday, November 12, after a major crash shut down multiple lanes on I-35 northbound near Schwab Road. The collision backed up traffic for several exits, leaving commuters crawling through the afternoon rush and facing delays of up to 10 minutes.<\/p>\n

The crash was reported around 1:24 p.m. on I-35 before the Schwab Road exit, according to TxDOT. Two left lanes and the left shoulder are\u00a0blocked, causing a significant slowdown stretching back to FM 3009 and Natural Bridge Caverns Road, both exits located between Selma and New Braunfels on the Northeast Side of San Antonio.<\/p>\n

The incident is confirmed to be a major crash with high severity, though details on possible injuries or the number of vehicles involved have not yet been revealed. SigAlert reported that vehicles along the I-35 frontage road between Schwab and Eckhardt Road were moving slowly at just 14 to 19 mph as of 2:15p.m., with delays expected for motorists.<\/p>\n
