The Houston Fire Department responded around 4:21 p.m. Tuesday\u00a0to a “terminal on fire” incident at Terminal C of Bush Airport (IAH). The fire appeared to have started inside a restaurant kitchen, according to Fox 26<\/a>. Passengers on planes taxiing nearby shot video and photos of the black smoke and flames, which could be seen from outside.<\/p>\n

The City of Houston’s active incidents tracker shows 10 units responded to what was being classified as a one-alarm blaze.\u00a0Airport officials updated the public about the incident at 5:04 p.m. Tuesday.<\/p>\n

“\u2060Houston Fire Department is responding to a fire at a restaurant in Terminal C North at George Bush Intercontinental Airport,” read an X post by Bush Airport’s official social media account. “Passengers in the immediate area have been relocated as a precaution. We will provide updates as they become available.”<\/p>\n

Terminal C is home to United Airlines and United Express. The airline\u00a0told Fox 26 that flights had not been affected by the blaze.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This is the second incident involving fire and smoke in just three days at IAH. Passengers had to be evacuated<\/a> from a United Express flight Saturday morning after smoke was reported inside the plane.
