Our children deserve to get an education just like everyone else.”

The incident, which was caught on cell phone video and shared on social media, drew the attention of Carl Dwyer, president of the NAACP El Paso branch.

RELATED: El Paso NAACP condemns KKK mask incident, calls for community action

At a press conference on Monday, as the NAACP addressed another viral video that appears to show El Paso teens dressed as Ku Klux Klan members, possibly as a Halloween joke, Dwyer referenced the Pebble Hills fight.

“Just this time last week, we had two teenage African-American females attacked and assaulted at Pebble Hills High School. You cannot tell me that these incidents are not connected,” Dwyer said.

Starks also called for broader action.

“People have to start holding others accountable. Students, teachers, the parents, administrators, law enforcement,” Starks said. “When you see something happen, you have to get involved. You have to hold people accountable. You have to be the voices of the victims.”

KFOX14/CBS4 reached out to the Socorro Independent School District regarding the incident.

Below is the district’s response:

The safety and well-being of our students is a top priority in Socorro ISD.
