HOUSTON \u2013 After remaining a mystery for several weeks since they started showing up in Texas mailboxes, we now know who is allegedly behind the fake transgender-related brochures that showed up at people\u2019s homes.<\/p>\n
The brochures sparked controversy across the state. The mailer, addressed to children in the household, claimed to be from something called the \u201cTexas Transgender Student Union\u201d and included resource information that some parents say crosses a line. It repeatedly referenced the Transgender Education Network of Texas \u2014 known as TENT \u2014 and included links to the organization\u2019s resources.<\/p>\n
But TENT said it had absolutely nothing to do with it and since the mailers started circulating, TENT says it has been flooded with hate messages and threats through social media and email.<\/p>\n
The group requested a hearing for a Rule 202 petition filing, seeking to uncover who was responsible for the brochures. After a judge granted the group\u2019s request, the group says it has learned the name of the individual and group allegedly behind the brochures and text message campaign.<\/p>\n
According to TENT, information released reveals an individual by the name \u201cJohn Braun\u201d as well as the group \u201cRepublican Women Caucus Fund\u201d are tied to the brochures.<\/p>\n
It is unclear who John Braun is exactly at this time. <\/p>\n
