The world order today has created significant opportunity for our entire state of Texas and the entire Gulf Coast,” Guerra said.

During the rally, Trump also pointed to a tanker carrying Venezuelan crude oil and discussed its arrival in the United States.

“See that little ship out there? That’s got one million gallons of oil in it from Venezuela,” Trump said.

Guerra clarified that the tanker was not the first Venezuelan oil shipment to arrive in the country, noting that another tanker was present during Trump’s first visit to Corpus Christi in February.

“There was another one when he first got here, so it technically wasn’t the first because crude is starting going here,” Guerra said.

Guerra said the shipments reflect the port’s growing role in the global energy market, particularly because local refineries can process heavy crude oil.

“So these refiners can take that heavy Venezuelan oil and refine it, and they can maintain, it’s economically viable. This is one of the unique things of the Texas Gulf Coast just because we’re a proximity to Latin America,” Guerra said.

Guerra also mentioned that Trump said the new arrangement to bring Venezuelan oil into the country could eventually benefit consumers through lower gas prices.

“The desire is to have cheaper oil that can lower costs for everyday consumers,” Guerra said

Corpus Christi City Councilwoman Sylvia Campos was among the local officials who attended the State of the Port.

“The port is a big part of the city of Corpus Christi,” Campos said.

Campos said the port remains an important part of the city’s economy but emphasized the need to balance industrial development with residents’ needs.

“We have a strong port and we appreciate all the work that they’ve done, but we also need to have a balance in our city, and it can’t be all industry. It needs to have quality of life,” Campos said.

As the port continues to expand its role in energy exports and international trade, local leaders say its growth represents more opportunities for the Coastal Bend.

The Port of Corpus Christi reports a record-breaking year as local leaders discuss growth, Venezuelan oil imports and…

[14
155,157,156
post-480982","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-corpus-christi","tag-corpus-christi","tag-corpus-christi-headlines","tag-corpus-christi-news
["GET
