The report also looks beyond fatalities to include survivors and the services they rely on.

Officials state the report aims to put names and lived experiences behind the statistics of domestic violence and sexual assault across El Paso.

“Behind every number in this report is a person and a family. Honoring them means using the truth to build a safer response, together,” said Sandra Nevarez-Garcia, executive director of CASFV.

According to the report, four intimate-partner homicides in El Paso County were documented in 2025.

El Paso District Attorney James Montoya said intimate-partner homicides are typically preceded by earlier violence.

“When there is an intimate partner fatality, rarely, if ever, is that the very first incident of violence,” Montoya said. “There are warning signs, usually well before that fatal event.”

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office assisted 851 domestic violence victims through Crime Victim Services, according to the report.

“Every arrest and investigation counted in this report represents someone who reached out for help, and we owe them a justice system that takes their safety seriously, the report shows what our community can accomplish when we work together, and where we still have work to do,” said El Paso District Attorney James Montoya.

The report also details the volume of protective-order requests and hotline calls. The county attorney’s protective order unit received nearly 3,500 applications and obtained 471 orders. The report states the Center Against Sexual and Family Violence answered more than 5,100 hotline calls.

“A protective order can be an important step toward safety, but survivors should not have to navigate that process alone,” said El Paso County Attorney Christina Sanchez. “Our Protective Order Unit works with advocates and community partners to help people seek protection. This report brings that shared work into focus and reminds us that our response must keep survivors and their families at its center.”

The report’s partners said they hope the data will help improve coordination and connect more people with support, including those who may not have a criminal case.

The Center Against Sexual and Family Violence’s 24-hour crisis hotline is 915-593-7300.

READ THE FULL REPORT:

Honoring_El_Paso_VictimsPDF previewPreview PDF

RECOMMENDED: YWCA to host ‘Walk a Mile in Her Shoes’ fundraiser for Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Sign up to receive the top interesting stories from in and around our community once daily in your inbox

EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — A new report released on Thursday is giving El Paso-area leaders a closer…

[12
138,140,139
post-481042","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-el-paso","tag-el-paso","tag-el-paso-headlines","tag-el-paso-news
["GET
