HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A Harris County sheriff\u2019s deputy with 11 years of service, assigned to the Critical Incident Response Team has been arrested and accused of sexually abusing a child, according to court documents obtained this week.<\/p>\n

Alexander Kristopher Cowley was taken into custody following an arrest warrant signed on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The Texas Department of Public Safety is the investigating\/charging agency.\u00a0<\/p>\n

What we know:<\/p>\n

Cowley is being formally charged with continuous sex abuse of a child. Bond amounts and scheduled court appearances were not immediately available in court records.<\/p>\n

The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Cowley is on administrative duty, pending the outcome of criminal proceedings.<\/p>\n

Cowley appeared before a judge on Thursday night, and the judge ruled that he be kept on a $500,000 bond.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors were looking for Cowley’s bond to be set to $1 million, claiming that the suspect said before that he would run away to England if he got caught.<\/p>\n

Records say Cowley is accused of sexually assaulting a family member from 2016 to 2024. He reportedly coached the victim to deny the abuse.<\/p>\n
