SOCORRO, Texas (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 La Pur\u00edsima Socorro Mission has been awarded a $500,000 capital grant to help restore the historic building, but the community must raise an equal amount locally to secure the matching funds.<\/p>\n
The grant and local match will contribute $1 million toward the community\u2019s $2 million restoration campaign, which is still underway. <\/p>\n
Organizers are seeking donations, sponsors and community partners to help meet the match and fund the broader project.<\/p>\n
The money will support repairs to the mission\u2019s adobe walls and historic plaster, drainage improvements and a full roof replacement. <\/p>\n
The work is intended to improve the building\u2019s safety and durability while preserving its historic character.<\/p>\n

The 2026 National Fund for Sacred Places cohort includes 30 congregations receiving more than $9 million in capital grants, along with technical assistance in planning, community engagement and fundraising.<\/p>\n The fund is operated by Partners for Sacred Places in collaboration with the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
