Besides, most of our phones, computers, and other gadgets make the adjustment automatically. There are probably only three or four clocks around your house that actually need your attention.

So what’s the upside?

Well, for starters, we get an extra hour to celebrate Halloween Saturday night, or an extra hour of sleep Sunday morning. That’s right, we’re entering the reward phase of this whole Daylight Saving Time business. We lost an hour back in March, and now we’re finally getting it back.

I don’t really understand the people who want to do away with changing the clocks. Personally, I think the system makes sense. It gives us more daylight in the evenings during the warmer months and brings the sunrise a little earlier during the winter.

It also seems to me that some people reject the whole thing simply because it’s a minor inconvenience. Seriously, how long does it take to change three or four clocks around the house? Isn’t that worth a few moments to help keep winter mornings from being even darker when kids are heading to school?

There are other arguments about energy savings and the effects on our daily routines, although experts still disagree about some of those supposed benefits. I’m not going to pretend I’m an expert on the subject, and I’m certainly not interested in turning a clock adjustment into a major political debate.

Read More: How To Tell If Lubbock Grass Is Dead Or Just Dormant

Sometimes an hour is just an hour.

Whether you love the current system or hate it, nothing is changing before this weekend. We’re falling back, and that’s that.

So enjoy your extra hour of sleep, your slightly brighter mornings, and the satisfaction of knowing that, for one glorious weekend, you actually get something back from the government.

And if you’re genuinely angry about changing the clocks, maybe that extra hour of sleep is exactly what you need.

Lubbock Restaurants That Closed in 2026 (So Far)

From fast food to mom-and-pops, and from upscale to a breakfast burrito favorite, here is a look at Lubbock restaurants that have closed so far this year.

Gallery Credit: Renee Raven

Lubbock Crime Rates vs. Surrounding Areas: Which Cities Are Safest?Think of moving slightly out of Lubbock?
