According to complete, unofficial returns from the Tuesday, Nov. 4, election Sonia Ledezma incumbent Trustee John Campbell\u00a0 have been elected the the PISD Board of Trustees.<\/p>\n
According to complete, unofficial returns from the Tuesday, Nov. 4, election, voters in the Princeton Independent School District appear to have elected an incumbent trustee and a PISD teacher to a pair of seats on the Board of Trustees.<\/p>\n
There were seven candidates on the ballot and voters were asked to choose two. The two with the most votes will be officially elected once the board canvasses the results.<\/p>\n
Collin County Elections reported Sonia Ledezma had 1,431 votes or 24.80% of the total of 5,770 ballots counted while incumbent Trustee John Campbell won a second term with 1,208 votes or 20.94%.<\/p>\n
Melissa Ait Belaid had 1,144 votes, or 19.83%, Incumbent Trustee Julia Schmoker had 1,077 votes or 18.67% and Charlotte Wilson had 553 votes or 9.58%.<\/p>\n
Sam Nevarez had 189 votes or 3.84% and Kay McLaughlin had 168 votes or 2.91%.<\/p>\n
Since there were 25,416 registered voters eligible to take part in the election, the turnout amounted to 22.7%.<\/p>\n
Ledezma led all the way, receiving 724 votes in early balloting, five mail-in ballots and 702 votes on Election Day. Campbell controlled second place with 597 early votes, nine mail-in votes and 602 Election Day ballots.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis campaign was built on heart, and on the love and fire that has grown in me over the past three years, since the very first day I stepped into a Princeton ISD classroom,\u201d Ledezma said after the election. \u201cThat experience shaped my purpose and ignited my passion to serve.\u201d<\/p>\n
She added, \u201cI will show up with integrity, compassion and the same work ethic I had throughout this entire campaign. I\u2019m ready to listen, ready to learn and ready to get to work for all of Princeton ISD.\u201d<\/p>\n
