SAN ANTONIO \u2013 Rain made for a soggy final day of early voting on Friday, but it did not keep many voters from heading to the polls and casting their ballots.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe thought with the rain the lines would be shorter, but it was actually a good turnout,\u201d voter Rachele said.<\/p>\n
Bexar County has already seen more voters show up for this year\u2019s election than the 2022 midterms, and that total does not include mail-in ballots or Election Day totals.<\/p>\n
Voters cited a range of reasons for showing up, including a desire for change, concerns about outside money in politics and the importance of voting according to their beliefs.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of things going on that I want an opportunity to express my opinion and make my vote count,\u201d voter Norman said. \u201cThis is the only way I know to have any type of change.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI really don\u2019t like that we have a lot of money flooding into this stuff from outside sources,\u201d voter Marcus said.<\/p>\n
Nancy, another voter, said it was important to vote for personal beliefs, while Katie said participation is key to making change happen.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery voice matters, and in order to make a change, we all need to come out and vote,\u201d Katie said.<\/p>\n
For some, voting was simply part of being a citizen.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s our duty to do it as a citizen, so absolutely I would not miss it,\u201d voter Carrie said.<\/p>\n
Some looked to make it easier for others to participate in their civic duty.<\/p>\n
Windcrest resident Darcy Skrzycki spent the day volunteering, bringing umbrellas for people to use while they walked in to vote.<\/p>\n
\u201cTypically, it\u2019s harder for people to get out and vote when there\u2019s any kind of weather going on,\u201d Skrzycki said. \u201cSo I just want to make sure that there\u2019s no excuse for anyone not to be able to get from point A to point B to vote. Plus, we have a lot of senior citizens that just need the extra little help.\u201d<\/p>\n
