HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The Houston Astros have hired Randy Flores as the 15th general manager in franchise history, the team announced Friday.

Flores, 51, joins the Astros from the St. Louis Cardinals, where he most recently served as assistant general manager of amateur scouting and player development. He succeeds Dana Brown as Houston’s top baseball operations executive.

Flores spent more than a decade in the Cardinals organization, helping oversee player acquisition, scouting and development efforts. He is widely credited with playing a key role in building the club’s talent pipeline.
