Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026, in Memorial Suite B, at Greenwood Funeral Home, 3344 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth 76107. Funeral Service: 2:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, in Independence Chapel at Greenwood Mausoleum, 3210 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth 76107; with entombment to follow in Greenwood Mausoleum. Shannon was born on Feb. 26, 1935, in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, to John J. and Grace Seymour. The youngest of nine children, she grew up in Ocean Springs, where she graduated from St. Alphonsus Parish School. In her early years, Shannon helped make deliveries for the family business, Grace Seymour Stuffed Crabs, and was a devoted aunt to her nieces. In 1952, Shannon met Leon Beck, the man who would become the love of her life. They married on July 6, 1953, beginning a life together that would take them across the country and around the world. Leon welcomed and adopted Shannon\u2019s daughter, Nanda Schkay, and together they raised six children. With each new Air Force assignment, their family continued to grow. Their daughter Cheryl Lee was born at Westover Air Force Base in Massachusetts, followed by Andrea Sue while stationed in Guam. Their fourth daughter, Lori-Lyn, arrived at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama. Their first son, Leon D. Beck Jr., was born at Presque Isle Air Force Base in Maine, and their youngest child, Shane Alan, was born while stationed at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota. The family later relocated to Fort Worth, when Leon was assigned to Carswell Air Force Base. They eventually made the Fort Worth area their permanent home. In 2013, Shannon and Leon celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a large gathering of family and friends. Leon passed away in 2015, after more than 62 years of marriage. Throughout her life, Shannon held a variety of jobs and pursued many interests. She managed a teenage band called the Turning Century. She also worked as a security guard, police dispatcher, and police officer, including working alongside a juvenile officer. Her interests were just as varied. She enjoyed participating in a bowling league and playing bingo. Shannon was a talented ceramic artist whose work earned numerous awards. She was especially known for the beautiful eyes she painted on her ceramic pieces, a distinctive detail that set her work apart from other artists. Shannon also opened her heart and home to teenagers going through difficult times, providing a safe haven for those who needed one. Shannon is survived by her six children: Nanda Posey; Cheryl and Tom Rosati; Andrea Gibson; Lori-Lyn and Kevin Dunn; Sherri and Leon D. Beck Jr.; and Jamie & Shane Beck. She also leaves behind 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leon D. Beck Sr.; her parents, John J. and Grace Seymour; and her eight siblings: Mary Josephine Seymour, Narvin Joseph Seymour, John Henry Seymour, Yvonne Gloria Seymour, Burnadette M. Seymour, Vernon Francis Seymour, Dorothy Mae Seymour, and Robert Eugene Seymour. She was also preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Dave Posey and James Gibson, and two great-grandsons, Seth Randolph and Michael Suniga. After eleven years apart, her family takes comfort in believing that Leon finally found that parking spot and was waiting to escort the love of his life home to heaven.
