(OnScene,  Copyright 2026 by KPRC Click2Houston &#8211; All rights reserved.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">HOUSTON \u2013 A driver believed to be an 18-year-old man died early Saturday after a single-vehicle crash near South Sam Houston Parkway West and South Post Oak Road, Houston police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Southwest Patrol officers responded around 3 a.m. An off-duty officer who was waiting at a traffic light told police the car was traveling about 80 mph as it crossed the intersection, then struck a pole. The impact split the vehicle in two and ejected the driver.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Houston Fire Department crews attempted lifesaving measures, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe the car was an older-model Audi sedan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Investigators have not determined whether alcohol was a factor.
