SAN ANTONIO – Patients at Methodist Children\u2019s Hospital got an unexpected Halloween-season treat Saturday when iconic superheroes rappelled down the hospital\u2019s windows to visit children in their rooms.<\/p>\n
The hospital said the surprise guests brought \u201csmiles and waves,\u201d shared festive spirit, and even wore matching costumes with some patients as they made their way past hospital rooms and units.<\/p>\n
Methodist Children\u2019s Hospital said it works to make each child\u2019s stay \u201cas comfortable and enjoyable as possible\u201d through activities that bring holiday traditions into the hospital, including reverse trick-or-treating and pop-up festivals in the lobby, along with support from its Child Life and Integrated Care team.<\/p>\n
The hospital, located in San Antonio, said more families turn to Methodist Children\u2019s Hospital than any other children\u2019s hospital in the city, with babies and children transported from across South Texas for higher levels of medical care not available in their home communities.<\/p>\n
Methodist Children\u2019s Hospital opened in 1998 as the first hospital in South Texas built specifically for pediatric care.
