BEXAR COUNTY \u2013 Political signs quoting congressional candidate Brandon Herrera have appeared in far west Bexar County, prompting some residents to call for their removal and others to defend the signs as free speech.<\/p>\n
The signs, which read \u201cThe Gospel of Herrera,\u201d feature a exaggerated photo of Herrera with quotes coming from his mouth. <\/p>\n
Herrera is the Republican candidate running for Texas\u2019 23rd Congressional District<\/a> against Katie Padilla Stout.<\/p>\n One sign portrays him saying, \u201cChris Brown your wife,\u201d and another reads, \u201cKids are c*m trophies.\u201d <\/p>\n The second quote was posted by Herrera on his X account in 2023. It has resurfaced after going viral again during his congressional campaign.<\/p>\n A woman shopping in the area named Bella believes the signs are \u201chorrible.\u201d<\/p>\n However, Tori Hill said they don\u2019t bother her.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t really care, honestly,\u201d Hill said. \u201cIt\u2019s freedom of speech. Whatever people want to, there\u2019s worse things that people have said.\u201d<\/p>\n Other people also raised concerns about where these signs are placed. Some are near a Montessori school and lining Culebra Road, where students of all ages walk home from school.<\/p>\n \u201cI think that\u2019s very explicit,\u201d Chris Hall said. \u201cJust keep it respectful at the end of the day.\u201d<\/p>\n Hall said he supports getting young people involved in voting, but questioned the message behind the signs.<\/p>\n
