(KPRC-TV)<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">HOUSTON \u2013 An 18-year-old man was killed early morning after his car struck a pole at the intersection of South Sam Houston Parkway West and South Post Oak Road, according to Houston police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Southwest Patrol officers responded to the single-vehicle crash at about 3 a.m. An off-duty officer who was waiting at a traffic light told investigators the car was traveling about 80 mph when it went through the intersection and hit the pole.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The impact split the older-model Audi sedan in half and ejected the driver, police said. Houston Fire Department personnel attempted lifesaving measures, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Investigators have not determined whether alcohol was a factor.
