STILLWATER, Okla. \u2013 The University of Houston men’s cross country team finished ninth overall while the women’s team placed 13th at the 2026 Big 12 Championship at the Greiner Family Cross Country Course.

\nThe men’s ninth place finish marked the best in program history since joining the league in 2023.
\n\u00a0
\nSenior Henok Hagos<\/a> paced the Cougars in the 8k for a fourth-straight meet, finishing 31st overall with a time of 24:10.4. Senior Jack Boyd<\/a> crossed the finish line in 24:25.3 for 42nd place, senior David Soto<\/a> placed 52nd in 24:39.6 and junior Remay Abraha<\/a> finished with a time of 25:29.8 for 72nd place. Junior Caden Thurman<\/a> was the final Cougar to score, placing 79th with a time of 25:46.9.<\/p>\n

Junior Addison Hite<\/a> led the women’s team in the 6k with a time of 21:52.6 for 62nd place. Junior Cadence Patterson<\/a> followed in 74th place in 22:12.1, sophomore Sophia Nguyen<\/a> crossed the finish line in 22:28.7 for 86th place and junior Julia Shimel<\/a> secured 89th place with a time of 22:30.0. Junior Lily Campos<\/a> placed 96th overall in 22:38.3.
