LUBBOCK The United Family and Mrs Baird\u2019s Bread announced the October winners of the fifteenth annual Teachers On The Rise program. Since the program\u2019s launch in August, nominations have poured in from students and families across the South Plains, highlighting how teachers go above and beyond the call of duty and deserve special recognition.<\/p>\n
Congratulations to the winners from October: Brandi Gonzales of Whitharral Elementary School (Whitharral ISD), Kim Ibarra of Levelland Middle School (Levelland ISD), and Philip Perkins of Lubbock High School (Lubbock ISD).<\/p>\n
\u201cOur teachers go above and beyond every single day, and it feels great to shine a spotlight on their hard work,\u201d Abie Rampy, director of public relations for The United Family, said in a news release. \u201cThis program is one of our favorite ways to celebrate the heart of our communities, and we can\u2019t wait to see all the amazing educators who will be honored in the months ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWith more than 800 nominations already this school year, we are hearing about great accounts of outstanding educators in South Plains classrooms,\u201d said Shane Sumrow, the program\u2019s director. \u201cWe encourage students and families to continue sending in nominations all school year. With Thanksgiving around the corner, this is a perfect time to tell us why you are thankful for your teachers.\u201d<\/p>\n
Winning teachers receive a $100 United Supermarkets gift card, lunch for two to the Texas Tech Club, and a gift box full of Mrs Baird\u2019s goodies. The students who nominate a winning teacher also receive a $50 American Express gift card. Teachers On The Rise is sponsored by the Texas Tech Club and Atmos Energy.<\/p>\n
